At Flourish & Thrive Collective, we believe that when people are given opportunities to grow, discover their strengths, and be supported by a caring community, incredible things happen. Vivian's journey is one example of what's possible when leadership, mentorship, and opportunity come together.
Vivian's Story
Vivian first connected with The Diva Movement in fifth grade through our Girls Leadership Program. Like many young people, she had big dreams—she wanted to become a fashion designer—and she discovered a love for performing after appearing in her first school play.
Through leadership development, Vivian gained much more than new skills. She developed confidence, learned to use her voice, strengthened her self-awareness, and began to see her own potential. Those experiences laid the foundation for the opportunities that followed.
By eighth grade, Vivian was invited to participate in an internship program where she reunited with a guest speaker she had once assisted during one of our leadership sessions—a full-circle moment that reminded her how small acts of encouragement can lead to bigger opportunities.
During her internship, Vivian learned how to film, edit, and produce media content, eventually creating her school's first commercial. Combining hands-on learning with the confidence she had built through leadership programming, she embraced her creativity and discovered the power of her voice.
Today, Vivian continues to flourish.
She is an active leader in her church, school, and community. She attends Cristo Rey Columbus High School and is preparing to audition for a paid summer theater program with Columbus Contemporary Theater—continuing to pursue her passions with confidence and purpose.
